Point and Confidence Interval Estimation
Description
A confidence interval refers to the probability that a population parameter will fall between a set of values for a certain proportion of times. In this training, the emphasis will be on confidence intervals with a known standard deviation.
In an inferential statistic, point estimation and confidence interval estimation are critical terms. They are used to estimate unknown population parameters (like the population mean, proportion, or variance) based on sample data. The advantage of the point estimation and confidence interval estimation is that it helps researchers to make informed decisions and draw conclusions about populations based on sample data.

Purpose
If you always feel at sea when discussing point estimation and confidence interval, this training will get you to a 100% confidence level. You will be able to calculate and interpret confidence intervals for estimating a population mean and a population proportion, interpret the student’s t probability distribution as the sample size changes, and calculate the sample size required to estimate a population mean and a population proportion given a desired confidence level and margin of error.
Expected Learning Outcomes
By the end of this training, you will be able to
explain point estimation and confidence interval;
discuss the differences between inferences about means and proportions; and
demonstrate the ability to calculate both one-sided and two-sided confidence intervals for mean and proportion.
Target Learners
This training program is designed for individuals or groups of people who work in clinical settings, academia, pharmaceutical industries, Government, corporations, nonprofit organizations, and organizations that work on biological data.
Learning Approach
Programs are delivered through live online interactive sessions with seasoned instructors having vast experiences in academia. Contents are well structured and manageable with self-paced learning activities and exercises. Our approach provides learners opportunities for hands-on practice, asking questions, investigating problems, and applying their knowledge to solve complex scenarios or real-world problems. In the end, learners develop deeper understanding, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
