Nonparametric Tests

Description

Nonparametric tests (NPT) are statistical methods used for analyzing data that do not meet the assumptions required for parametric tests, such as normality or homogeneity of variances. These tests are based on fewer assumptions and are often used when dealing with ordinal data, non-normal distributions, or small sample sizes. Nonparametric tests are also useful when the measurement scale is not interval or ratio.

Purpose

This training discusses the situation that warrants NPT. For instance, when the test is statistically significant (p<0.05), then the data does not follow a normal distribution. The null hypothesis for this test of normality is that the data are normally distributed. You will be equipped with the knowledge of what to do when dealing with interval level data for parametric and non-parametric tests.

Expected Learning Outcomes

By the end of this training, you will be able to

R

state and describe non-parametric tests;

R

recognize the conditions under which non-parametric tests are applied;

R

apply appropriate hypothesis tests to variable types to explore relationships; and

R

draw conclusions based on such hypothesis testing and to interpret p-values.

Target Learners

This training program is designed for individuals or groups of people who work in clinical settings, academia, pharmaceutical industries, Government, corporations, nonprofit organizations, and organizations that work on biological data.

Learning Approach

Programs are delivered through live online interactive sessions with seasoned instructors having vast experiences in academia. Contents are well structured and manageable with self-paced learning activities and exercises. Our approach provides learners opportunities for hands-on practice, asking questions, investigating problems, and applying their knowledge to solve complex scenarios or real-world problems. In the end, learners develop deeper understanding, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
